Birds Of a Feather Flock Together

While I was growing up I always use to hear my aunt say “show me your company and I will tell you who you are” also translate (bird of a feather flock together).

This is one statement that rich and successful people take very seriously; they understand that who you associate your self with will determine your direction in life.

If there are people in your life who are abusive, demeaning, angry, hurtful, not supportive, unethical, or crazy, it is time to let them go. You may have your reasons for hanging on to them, but do these reasons really outweigh the negative impact they have on your life and future?

Just check it if the people on the inner circle of your five closest friends are aimless has no goals for there lives don't have a clue if they are coming are going and all they can talk about is where the next party is going to be; then its quite clear that you will be thinking and talking about the same thing.  I am not trying to say it's bad to have fun; as a matter of fact having fun can be therapeutic.

What I am saying is you have to put your priorities in order. If your friends are not cheer leading you on and motivating you to want to succeed and achieve your goals or if they can't offer you qualifying advice to help improve your quality of life then you probably need to rearrange your associations.

At the very least, find ways to cut back on interactions with these people. Because they are driving you in the middle of nowhere-ville on an empty tank; you can either change your inner circle or your outer circle either way you have to have a support group of friends and family that works as a booster pack propelling you higher and farther head in your life.

Rich and successful people only associate them selves with other rich and successful people not because they believe that they are better than other people, they do so because they understand that if want to go somewhere, its best to find some one who as already been there before so they can guide you.

This kind of association motivates, inspire and direct you forward. You see rich people think differently than poor people about the same things these different ways of looking at the same situation is what allows them to keep achieving more each day.

OK here are a few examples of the difference in thinking.
  • Rich people believe "I create my life." Poor people believe, "Life happens to me."
  • Rich people play the money game to win. Poor people play the money game to not lose.
  • Rich people focus on opportunities. Poor people focus on obstacles
  • Rich people are bigger than their problems. Poor people are smaller than their problems.
  • Rich people act in spite of fear. Poor people let fear stop them.
  • Rich people constantly learn and grow. Poor people think they already know.

From these examples you can see why it is so important for you to evaluate your friends and the people the you're closely associated with because if they are under achiever, have no goals, has a Poor Mental Attitude and is not driven to achieve success then guess what 9.9 times out of 10 that will be your exact thoughts and beliefs also.

So give your self a moment and take this challenge today, take a few minutes to evaluate your inner circle and your outer circle of friends and ask your self this questions which one of these people pushes me closer to or further away from my goals and expectations for my life?

And if you work it out and discover who are the pusher and pullers then rearrange your circles and put the pusher on the inner circle and the puller on the outer circle this way you wont lose a friend if that's what you are worried about, but you would gain leverage and if there are no pusher in any of your circles then go find some; just remember the birds that you flock with will determine how far you reach in life.
